Managing Partner
Mr. Moini has over two decades of insurance industry experience and has most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of Global Corporate and Specialty at Aviva Canada. During his tenure as COO, he managed several hundred employees and a ~$500M book of business. Prior to this COO role, Mr. Moini served in various executive level positions spanning Personal Lines, Reinsurance and Actuarial roles.
He has a well-established track record of turning around underperforming business units operationally and financially.

Managing Partner
Mr. Best is an underwriting executive with over 35 years in Commercial Insurance, with a career that has involved many classes of Business including Casualty, Auto, Marine, and Property.
Mr. Best spent the first decade of his career in Vancouver in underwriting and broking. After moving to Toronto, he spent a decade with a leading MGA (Elliot Special Risk) working with domestic carriers as well as placing business in Lloyds. He then transitioned to international carriers including Allianz and Aviva, as well as leading the mid-market team for North and South America. In his most recent role, he served as VP Underwriting Aviva Global Corporate & Specialty.
Controller
Ms. Lam is a highly accomplished finance professional. Her extensive career history includes various executive level finance roles at prominent P&C, Life and banking firms including Aviva Canada, Great West Life, Scotiabank and Manulife Life.
She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in both Canada and the U.S. and a member of FLMI (Life Management Institute) in Canada. Amanda also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Director, Underwriting and QA
With over 30 years in the insurance industry, Mr. Kennedy is a skilled leader with wide-ranging experience across multiple disciplines having held senior leadership roles in Commercial Lines, Specialty Lines, and Broker Distribution with two prominent Canadian insurers.
Experienced in leading both regional and national teams, he has worked and lived in multiple regions across Canada allowing him to gain a deep understanding of the insurance marketplace and the broker community.
Mr. Kennedy leads Technical Underwriting with a focus on pricing, in-house wording development, and underwriting governance.
Director, Strategic Initiatives
Ms. Brooks is a seasoned insurance professional, having held an impressive array of management roles during her 30 years in the Property & Casualty industry.
Ms. Brooks background includes management and executive roles at London Guarantee Insurance, Marsh Canada, the Surety Association of Canada, Aviva, Markel, as well as roles in the technology and construction industries.
Ms. Brooks is a graduate of Queen’s university and holds the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
Claims Practice Leader
Mr. Pouliot is a claims professional with 30 years of experience managing Property and Casualty Claims. A Chartered Professional Accountant, Mr. Pouliot has spent over 25 years across various senior claims positions at GCNA (now Intact).
While serving as the National VP of Claims for North America, Mr. Pouliot sat on the committee for MGA and Public Entity/Trade Credit Claims, and in that role had authority for all lines of business across North America.
Mr. Pouliot’s holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Montreal in Quebec.
Senior Property Specialist
Ms. Beard is a seasoned underwriting professional with over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.
With a background encompassing both broker and company roles, Ms. Beard has honed her expertise in the property and casualty lines of insurance while working for various International and Canadian companies. She is proficient in managing both Canadian and cross-border insurance placements showcasing her deep understanding of the intricacies of these complex markets. Her reputation as a reliable and knowledgeable resource has made her a sought-after expert within the insurance community.
Ms. Beard’s prior experience includes roles at The Hartford, The Citadel, and The Sovereign general insurance companies.
Casualty Lead
NovaRisk welcomed Maggie Beattie to the underwriting leadership team on January 15th, 2024.
Ms. Beattie is a seasoned professional with over twenty years of underwriting experience in roles of increasing accountability with multinational carriers including HDI, Allianz and RSA.
Ms. Beattie will oversee underwriting and development of all Casualty lines including achievement of NovaRisk’s ambitions in Casualty lines.
Operations Associate
Ms. Hill is a NovaRisk veteran, having joined the business when it was a startup. She exemplifies the term “jill of all trades”.
Ms. Hill has been instrumental in building business infrastructure through the development of wide-ranging capabilities including technology, reporting, finance and underwriting support.
Ms. Hill holds a B.Sc. with Honours from Queen’s University.
Finance & Operations Associate
Mr. Edmonds joined NovaRisk late in 2024.
With keen interest in finance and operations, Mr. Edmonds contributes to business processes and supports strategic initiatives. He is eager to grow his expertise and make a meaningful impact within the firm.
Mr. Edmonds holds a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
